PLA is the most widely used 3D printing plastic. It prints accurately with crisp detail, comes in a wide range of colours, and is the most affordable material we offer. It is the right starting point for prototypes, concept models, architectural pieces, display items and anything that does not face heat or heavy loads.

Strengths
- Lowest cost per part of any material we print
- Sharp detail and good dimensional accuracy

- Plant-based and low-odour
Limitations
- Softens at around 57 °C, so avoid cars in the sun, hot machinery or dishwashers
- More brittle than PETG or nylon under impact
- Not suited to long-term outdoor use

Design guidelines for PLA parts
Follow these when preparing your file. Our team also checks every order before printing and flags anything that needs changing.
- Minimum wall thickness
- 1.2 mm; 2–3 mm for load-bearing walls
- Unsupported overhangs
- Up to 45° without supports
- Minimum hole diameter
- 2 mm (drill out for precise fits)
- Clearance for moving fits
- 0.3–0.5 mm per side
- Embossed / engraved text
- At least 0.8 mm deep, 1.5 mm stroke
- Typical tolerance
- ±0.2 mm

01 How much does PLA 3D printing cost in Mumbai?

02 Is PLA strong enough for functional parts?
PLA is stiff and fine for light-duty parts, prototypes and models. For parts that face heat, impacts or sustained loads, choose PETG, TPU or a carbon fibre nylon such as PA6-CF.
03 What is the difference between PLA Basic, PLA Matte and PLA Marble?
They are the same base plastic with different finishes. PLA Basic has a slight sheen, PLA Matte has a flat, layer-hiding finish that looks more premium, and PLA Marble has a stone-like speckled look for decorative pieces.
04 Can PLA be used outdoors?
Only short term. PLA softens in strong heat and degrades with sun exposure over time. For outdoor parts in Mumbai, PAHT-CF or other weather-resistant materials last much longer.
