Bambu Lab ASA· UV- and weather-resistant plastic for parts that live outdoors.
Made in Navi Mumbai · Free delivery in Mumbai · Shipped across India
ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) is an engineering plastic made for life outdoors. It has the toughness and heat resistance of ABS, but it is formulated to withstand sunlight and weather, so parts keep their strength and colour far longer than ABS or PLA left in the sun. That makes it the material of choice for enclosures, mounts, housings and fittings that sit on rooftops, balconies, vehicles and machines.
Bambu Lab rates its ASA at a heat deflection temperature of 92 °C (1.8 MPa), well above the 57 °C of standard PLA, so it will not sag on a car dashboard or next to warm equipment. It also absorbs very little moisture. Both matter in Mumbai, where parts face strong sun, heat and a long, humid monsoon.
We print ASA in-house at our studio in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, on an enclosed Bambu Lab X2D. ASA shrinks and warps if it cools unevenly, so a warm, enclosed chamber is what gives clean, accurate parts. What ASA is best for
- Outdoor enclosures for electronics, sensors and CCTV
- Rooftop, balcony and garden fixtures
- Automotive exterior and dashboard parts
- Drone and RC parts that stay out in the sun
- Signage, nameplates and outdoor display parts
- Solar panel, antenna and cable mounts
- Replacement parts for outdoor appliances and machinery
ASA strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Formulated to resist UV, weather and moisture, so parts keep their strength and colour outdoors
- 92 °C heat deflection: handles car interiors and warm equipment that soften PLA
- Tougher under impact than standard PLA (41 vs 26.6 kJ/m² unnotched, in-plane)
- Low moisture absorption (0.45 % saturated), so parts stay stable in humid weather
- Can be sanded, drilled, primed and painted for a finished look
Limitations
- Weaker through the layers (Z) than in-plane. Tell us the load direction and we will orient the part for it
- Needs an enclosed printer, and very large flat parts can still lift slightly at the corners
- Not certified food-safe
- For parts above about 100 °C or carrying heavy structural loads, choose PAHT-CF or PA6-CF

Design guidelines for ASA parts
Follow these when preparing your file. Our team also checks every order before printing and flags anything that needs changing.
- Minimum wall thickness
- 1.2 mm; 2–3 mm for load-bearing or outdoor walls
- Large flat parts
- Round or chamfer the corners and avoid long, thin flat plates to limit warping
- Unsupported overhangs
- Up to 45° without supports
- Minimum hole diameter
- 2 mm (drill or ream for precise fits)
- Clearance for moving fits
- 0.3–0.5 mm per side
- Screws
- Use heat-set brass inserts for screws that are tightened more than once
- Typical tolerance
- ±0.2 mm

ASA 3D printing FAQ
01 What is the difference between ASA and ABS?
They have similar strength and heat resistance, but ASA is formulated to withstand UV and weather. ABS yellows and turns brittle in sunlight, while ASA holds its colour and strength outdoors. For any part that will be used outside, choose ASA.
02 Is ASA better than PETG for outdoor parts?
For parts in direct sun and heat, yes. ASA keeps its shape at higher temperatures than PETG and is designed for long UV exposure, so it is the better choice for rooftops, vehicles and balconies. PETG is fine for shaded or indoor use.
03 Can ASA parts be painted or glued?
Yes. ASA sands well and takes spray primer and paint. Parts can be bonded with cyanoacrylate (super glue) or two-part epoxy, and ASA can also be solvent-welded with acetone.
04 Should I choose ASA or ASA-CF?
Choose ASA for tough outdoor parts that may take knocks: it has about three times the impact strength of ASA-CF. Choose ASA-CF when the part must be stiff and rigid, with a matte carbon-fibre finish. Both resist sun and weather.
05 How much does ASA 3D printing cost?
The price depends on the size, infill and print time of your part. Upload your STL or 3MF file to the instant quote calculator, choose ASA, and you will see the price in about a minute.
06 Do you ship ASA 3D printed parts across India?
Yes. ASA parts are made at our studio in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, and shipped anywhere in India by BlueDart or Delhivery with live tracking. Upload your file to the instant quote calculator, choose ASA, and the price is shown in about a minute with no minimum order.
07 Do you deliver ASA parts across Mumbai?
Yes. We print ASA at our studio in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, and deliver free across all of Mumbai, Thane up to Kalwa and Navi Mumbai up to Seawoods, CBD Belapur and Ulwe. Mira Road, Vasai–Virar, Kalyan, Dombivli, Bhiwandi, Panvel and Uran ship by courier for a delivery charge. Typical lead time for ASA is 3 days.
