ASA Aero 3D Printing Service
Bambu Lab ASA Aero· Foaming, lightweight ASA for drones, RC aircraft and weight-critical outdoor parts.
Made in Navi Mumbai · Free delivery in Mumbai · Shipped across India
ASA Aero is a lightweight, foaming version of ASA. It contains a foaming agent that expands as the plastic leaves the hot nozzle, filling each printed line with tiny air pockets. By tuning nozzle temperature and flow, a part can be printed as light as 0.46 g/cm³, less than half the density of standard ASA at 1.05 g/cm³, while keeping ASA's resistance to sun and weather.
That combination makes it a natural fit for RC aircraft, drone bodies and fairings, wing sections, large outdoor models and any part where every gram counts. Because the expansion is controlled, we can trade weight against strength: more foaming gives a lighter part, less foaming a denser, stronger one.
Navi3D is a drone hub as well as a print studio, so we know what weight-critical airframe parts have to survive. We print ASA Aero on an enclosed Bambu Lab X2D at our studio in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, deliver free across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, and ship across India.

What ASA Aero is best for
- RC aircraft fuselages, wings and control surfaces
- Drone bodies, canopies, fairings and covers
- Large outdoor models and props where weight matters
- Lightweight housings and covers for outdoor equipment
- Prototype aerodynamic shells and ducts
- Wearable and hanging display pieces that must stay light
ASA Aero strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Parts can weigh less than half as much as the same part in standard ASA
- Adjustable foaming, so each part can be tuned for weight or strength
- Keeps ASA's UV and weather resistance for outdoor flying
- Good in-plane toughness for its weight (32 kJ/m² unnotched)
- Matte surface finish
Limitations
- Low layer adhesion (3.4 kJ/m² impact through the layers), so part orientation matters
- The lightest, most foamed settings give up strength and stiffness
- Less dimensionally accurate than solid ASA because the plastic expands, so not for tight-tolerance fits
- Lower heat resistance than standard ASA (85 °C at 0.45 MPa)
- Not for load-bearing structural parts: use ASA-CF or PA6-CF for those

Design guidelines for ASA Aero parts
Follow these when preparing your file. Our team also checks every order before printing and flags anything that needs changing.
- Weight vs strength
- Printed density can be set from about 0.46 to 0.97 g/cm³. Tell us whether weight or strength matters more
- Minimum wall thickness
- 1.2 mm; single-wall shells for wing skins on request
- Clearance for fits
- 0.4–0.6 mm per side, as foaming adds a little width
- Holes and hardpoints
- Design holes slightly oversize and bond metal inserts or hardpoints with epoxy where screws carry load
- Typical tolerance
- ±0.3 mm

ASA Aero 3D printing FAQ
01 How much lighter is ASA Aero than normal ASA?
Bambu Lab's data puts printed ASA Aero between 0.46 and 0.97 g/cm³ depending on foaming, against 1.05 g/cm³ for standard ASA. At full foaming, a part weighs less than half as much as the same part in standard ASA.
02 Is ASA Aero good for RC planes and drones?
Yes, that is what it is designed for. It is light, resists sun and weather on outdoor flights and takes small knocks well. For load-bearing parts such as arms, motor mounts and frame plates, use a stiffer material like ASA-CF or PA6-CF and keep ASA Aero for fuselages, canopies and covers.
03 Is ASA Aero as strong as standard ASA?
Not quite. Its rated in-plane tensile strength is 32 MPa against 37 MPa for standard ASA, its layer adhesion is lower, and strength drops further as foaming increases. It is the right choice when low weight matters more than maximum strength.
04 How do I order ASA Aero parts?
Upload your STL or 3MF file to the instant quote calculator and choose ASA Aero. If weight is critical, tell us the target weight when we confirm your order and we will tune the foaming for it.
05 Do you ship ASA Aero 3D printed parts across India?
Yes. ASA Aero parts are made at our studio in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, and shipped anywhere in India by BlueDart or Delhivery with live tracking. Upload your file to the instant quote calculator, choose ASA Aero, and the price is shown in about a minute with no minimum order.
